Do You Have What It Takes to Make a career Leap? (Your Strengths Might Already Know)

I didn't set out to become an entrepreneur. Honestly, for most of my second career change, I was just trying to survive it.
But looking back, there were clues. Things I kept gravitating toward. Ways I kept showing up — even when I was terrified. And it turns out those weren't random quirks; they were strengths doing what strengths do.
Which brings me to something genuinely fascinating from the world of CliftonStrengths research. Curt Liesveld, a former senior consultant at Gallup, identified what he called the Entrepreneurial Package — a cluster of five strengths that, when present together, tend to give people a natural edge when it comes to building something from scratch.
Whether you're considering a career change, launching a side hustle, or finally taking that idea seriously — this is worth knowing about.
The Five Strengths of the Entrepreneurial Package
1. Self-Assurance This isn't arrogance. It's a deep, quiet trust in your own judgement — even when you can't fully explain it to other people. Entrepreneurs with this strength tend to back themselves when the data is thin and the outcome is uncertain. They've learned to treat their gut as a legitimate source of information.
2. Activator Ready, fire, aim. People with Activator in their top strengths don't wait until everything is perfect before they begin — because they know that waiting is its own kind of risk. They learn by doing, and they do it fast. If you've ever launched something before you felt fully ready, there's a good chance this one's in your mix.
3. Achiever This is the engine. Achievers have a relentless internal drive that doesn't need much external fuel. They work hard not because someone told them to, but because not working hard genuinely feels wrong to them. In the unpredictable world of entrepreneurship, this kind of self-propulsion matters enormously.
4. Futuristic Futuristic people live slightly ahead of the rest of us. They're energised by possibility, drawn to the question "what if?" and often find themselves seeing opportunities others haven't noticed yet. This strength is what gives entrepreneurs their vision — and their ability to stay motivated even when the present moment is difficult.
5. Ideation The creative disruptor. People with Ideation love making unexpected connections between ideas, and they get genuinely excited when they find a better way to do something. They're not interested in doing things the way they've always been done — which, in the world of business, is a significant asset.
So What Does This Mean for You?
You don't need all five of these to make a successful career change or build something meaningful. Strengths always work best in combination, and your unique profile is just that — yours.
But if you've read that list and felt something stir, that's worth paying attention to.
My own career shift took nearly a decade longer than it needed to — not because I lacked the strengths, but because I didn't recognise them as strengths. I called them restlessness, or stubbornness, or not being able to sit still.
Now I help people see what was always there.
If you're curious about what your strengths say about your next chapter, let's have a conversation.
